Understanding Flow Check warnings

Every warning maps to a real guideline. Here's what each one is checking, the numbers behind it, and how to clear it.

Each warning type has a specific cause and a specific fix. Here's the reference.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Overlap

Cause: Two furniture pieces occupy the same space. Fix: Move one. Or, if they should overlap (chair tucked under a desk), the overlap should be no more than the chair's depth.

  2. 2

    Door swing block

Cause: Furniture in the swing arc of a hinged door. Fix: Move the furniture out of the arc. Or change the door type (sliding, pocket, barn) to remove the arc.

  3. 3

    Recliner extension

Cause: Recliner doesn't have room to recline (about 24 extra inches behind/ahead). Fix: Move the recliner away from the wall, or reduce the Recline Depth in the Inspector if your model reclines less.

  4. 4

    Tight walkway

Cause: Walkway between furniture (or furniture and wall) is under 30 inches. Fix: Move furniture to widen the walkway, or accept that secondary walkways can be 30 inches even though main walkways should be 36.

  5. 5

    Window block

Cause: Tall furniture (bookcase, armoire) in front of a window. Fix: Use lower furniture in front of windows, or move the tall piece to a wall without a window.

  6. 6

    Spacing (sofa-coffee, dining-wall)

Cause: Furniture too close together or too far apart from a related piece. Fix: 14–18 inches sofa to coffee. 36 inches dining table to wall.
