Room Layout Guides
Room-by-room layout guides with furniture placement tips, traffic flow considerations, and design inspiration.
How to Plan a Room Layout
- Measure the room. Note wall lengths, doors, windows and anything fixed, like radiators or vents.
- Draw it to scale. A scaled floor planner shows what fits before you buy or move anything.
- Pick the focal point. A TV, fireplace, window view or bed wall decides where the largest pieces go.
- Place the biggest furniture first, then add smaller pieces around it.
- Keep walkways clear. Check that doors open fully and you can move through the room without squeezing past furniture.
- Check it in 3D. Walk through the layout in a 3D room planner and adjust.
