Adding an elevator that travels between floors

Drop an elevator into a multi-floor design, set the floors it serves, and it appears on every level it reaches.

Multi-story homes, accessible designs, and duplex apartments often need an elevator. In RoomSketch3D an elevator is a real floor-spanning object: place it once, tell it which floors it serves, and the shaft shows up in the right spot on every one of those floors.

What you'll need

  • A design with at least two floors (an elevator can be placed on one floor, but shines with several)

Step by step

  1. 1

    Pick the elevator tool

Build Panel → Elevator. Choose a cab size when prompted — small, medium, and large residential cabs, or a custom footprint.

Pick a cab size — or set a custom footprint.
  2. 2

    Place it on the plan

Click where the shaft goes. Put it where it can occupy the same footprint on every floor it serves — beside the staircase is classic.

The shaft on the plan — drag to reposition like any item.
  3. 3

    Set the floors it serves

In the elevator's inspector, choose the bottom and top floors of its range. The shaft automatically appears on every floor in between.

  4. 4

    Check it in 3D

In a multi-floor design, switch to 3D to see the shaft rising through the building. It's included in your image, PDF, and 3D exports.

Tips

Keep the footprint clear on every floor

Smart Flow Check treats the shaft as occupied space on each served floor — if furniture overlaps it on the third floor, you'll hear about it.
