Overview

A full power rack is a four-post cage that surrounds the lifter, with safety bars and a pull-up bar for squats, presses, and rack pulls. It is the safest way to train heavy alone and serves as the anchor of a complete home gym.

Sizing & placement

Its 48-by-48-inch footprint and 84-inch height demand a 7-foot ceiling, and the 48 inches of front clearance gives room to load plates and step back. Position a bench inside the cage for protected pressing.

Where it works

Garage gyms and dedicated home gyms; heavy free-weight training.
