Take the guided tour of the editor

The built-in guided tour spotlights every part of the editor, one step at a time, on a sample apartment you can't break — the fastest way to learn your way around.

4 minUpdated 2026-07-23

The first time you open RoomSketch3D after purchase, the app offers to show you around: a guided tour opens a sample 30 × 24 ft one-bedroom apartment (complete with a loft) and walks the whole interface one spotlight at a time. Each step dims everything except the control it's talking about, explains it in a short card, and — when a step is about a panel or menu — opens that panel for you so you can see exactly what lives where.

The tour is view-only and the sample plan is disposable: nothing you see or do during the tour touches your own designs. It runs in the app's language and adapts to your device — phones get the mobile layout tour, desktops the full three-panel tour.

What you'll need

  • A RoomSketch3D account — the tour starts itself on your first visit after purchase

Step by step

  1. 1

    Start the tour

On your first visit the tour starts by itself, right after you pick your preferences. Any other time, open the Create New or Select Floor Plan popup and press the teal Start Guided Tour button under the title.

  2. 2

    Move at your own pace

Each card has Next and Back buttons and a step counter (for example "Step 6 of 32"). Read the card, then tap Next — when the card says a button "opens" something, Next performs the press so you see the panel, sheet, or menu appear exactly as it will for you.

  3. 3

    Or let it play itself

Prefer to sit back? Tap the play button on any card and the tour advances automatically, pacing each step to a comfortable reading speed. Tapping Back, Next, or pause returns control to you at any point.

  4. 4

    Exit whenever you like

The in the card's corner ends the tour immediately and returns you to the Create New popup, ready to start your own design. Finishing the last step does the same.

Tips

Retake it anytime

The tour isn't a one-shot. The Start Guided Tour button lives in the Create New popup permanently — handy after an update, or when a teammate borrows your screen.

It speaks your language

Every step is translated into all nine app languages, and the tour follows the language you chose in your preferences.

Watch for the two-floor moment

The sample apartment has a loft — when the tour opens the floor list, that's the multi-floor feature you'll use later for basements, upper floors, and yards.

Frequently asked questions

Will the tour change or delete anything in my designs?

No. The tour loads a throwaway sample apartment that is never saved to your account, and it blocks input while it runs. Your designs are untouched.

Why did the tour start on its own the first time?

After purchase, the app shows it once automatically — right after your preferences — because it's the fastest way to learn the editor. Once you finish or close it, it never auto-starts again.

Is the tour different on my phone?

Same idea, different route: on phones it walks the mobile layout (bottom buttons and sheets), on desktops the full three-panel layout. Take it on both if you design on both.

Does the in-app tour have narration?

The in-app tour is silent by design — each step shows its text on screen. The narrated version above is this video, for watching before you dive in.
