Most people already have a plan of some kind: the floor plan from the listing, a page of the architect's PDF, a sketch on graph paper, or the room itself. RoomSketch3D accepts all of them. Upload an image or a PDF (pick the page your plan is on) and either trace over it yourself or let AI draft the whole plan — walls, doors, windows, stairs — for you to review and fine-tune.
The trace editor is built for cleaning up rough scans. Tap to select and delete a corner, wall, or fixture; drag a wall by its middle and connected walls stretch to stay joined; tap a wall to add a corner; pull a handle to extend an interior wall; re-seat a door or window onto the right wall; add sliding windows, pocket doors, barn doors, and garage doors. Size fields use the same feet-and-inches boxes as the rest of the app, so a 24 is never read as 24 feet.
No plan at all? Snap a photo of the room and AI works out the layout. On iPhone and iPad, AR Scan builds the plan as you walk the room and mark corners with the camera. And if an import comes in too big or too small, the Re-scale tool fixes the whole plan from a single known measurement — walls and structure on every floor, with furniture keeping its place.

Good to know
- Give the AI a wide, uncluttered shot — it is a head start, not a final answer, so check the dimensions first.
- An upper floor can be imported from an image too, and pinned to two matching corners so it stacks exactly over the floor below.
- If the AI gets something wrong, the Report a problem button sends us the plan so we can improve it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I import a PDF floor plan?
Yes. The floor-plan import accepts PDF files as well as images. Pick the page your plan is on and it flows into the same tracing and auto-detect steps.
How accurate is the AI draft?
It is a strong head start that you review and refine. Traced plans come out at real-world size, and if the scale is off you can correct the whole plan from one known measurement with the Re-scale tool.
Can I create a plan without any drawing at all?
Yes. Photograph the room and AI works out the layout, or on iPhone and iPad use AR Scan to build the plan by walking the room with the camera.
