Setting per-room flooring
Each room can have its own flooring. Open **Materials → Surfaces → Flooring Material**, tap a room, and choose tile, hardwood, or carpet — a live 3D view shows the floor as you pick. For hardwood in a plain tone, set the plank size too.
A floor plan reads true when each room has the right floor — tile in the bathroom, carpet in the bedroom, hardwood through the living areas. In RoomSketch3D you set flooring per room in a couple of taps, and it renders in both 2D and 3D.
Step by step

Open Surfaces → Flooring Material
On a computer, switch the left panel to the Materials tab and click Surfaces (Flooring, wall paints and ceiling paints). On a phone, tap Materials in the row under the plan; the popup opens on Surfaces. Either way the popup starts on Flooring Material (its neighbours are Wall Paints and Ceiling Paints) with the prompt Tap anywhere on the plan to set its flooring. Rooms are detected automatically from your interior walls and the openings (doors, French doors, openings) in them — so every enclosed space is ready to floor.

Tap a room and pick a material
Tap the room you want on the small plan. Choose Tiles, Hardwood, or Carpet (or None), then a finish: Materials are photo textures (for carpet: Gray Loop, Beige Pattern, Berber) and Colors are plain tones. The small plan fills in and the live 3D view beside it (above it on a phone) shows that room's floor straight away; drag it to look around. Here the left bedroom gets Gray Loop carpet.

Set plank size and tone for hardwood
Pick Hardwood, then the Colors finish and a wood tone (Oak, Maple, Walnut, Grey Wash and more). A plain tone adds two plank dropdowns: Width (3.25" up to 1') and Length (3' up to 12'), each with Other… for a custom size. Set the open area to 8"-wide, 6'-long planks for long, natural grain lines. The photo finishes under Materials (Oak, Herringbone, Dark Plank, Rustic Plank) come with their own plank pattern, so the size dropdowns only show for a plain tone.

Repeat per room
Work through the plan: tile the bathroom, carpet the bedroom, and run hardwood through the open living, kitchen and dining — each room keeps its own floor. Want one floor everywhere? Apply to all rooms puts the selected room's flooring on every room on this floor (it asks Tap again to confirm first).

See it in 3D
The live view in the popup shows one room at a time. For the whole home, tap the cube in the popup's header (View in 3D), or close the popup and open the 3D view, then orbit or walk through — every room renders its own flooring, so the whole home reads the way it will in real life.
In 3D, carpet, tile, and hardwood all render true to life.
Tips
Rooms are auto-detected
Flooring works on enclosed rooms, which RoomSketch3D detects from your interior walls and their openings. If a space isn't selectable, check that its walls fully enclose it and any doorways are placed as openings.
Match flooring to room function
Tile or vinyl for wet rooms (bath, laundry, entry), carpet for bedrooms, hardwood or laminate for living and dining — the fastest way to make a plan feel real.
Keep hardwood consistent across open areas
For an open-plan living/kitchen/dining, use the same hardwood, plank size, and tone throughout so the space reads as one.
Floors not showing on the 2D plan?
The plan draws flooring when Layers → Show flooring is ticked. It turns itself on when you add flooring, but if you've switched it off, tick it again. The 3D view always shows your floors.

Frequently asked questions
Can different rooms have different floors?
Yes — that's the point. Each room is set independently: tile the bathroom, carpet the bedroom, hardwood the rest. Open Materials → Surfaces → Flooring Material and tap each room.
Can I change the hardwood plank size and tone?
Yes. Set a room to hardwood, open Colors and pick a wood tone; the plank Width and Length dropdowns appear under the tones.
How are rooms detected for flooring?
Automatically. RoomSketch3D finds enclosed rooms from your interior walls and their openings (doors, French doors, openings), so each space is ready to floor without any extra setup.
Does flooring show in 3D?
Yes. Every material renders in the popup's live preview, the 3D view and on the 2D plan (with Show flooring ticked in Layers), so you can walk through and see the floors as they'll look.
