A home is rarely one floor. RoomSketch3D lets you add floors above and below the ground floor — a second storey, a loft, a basement — and keeps them aligned: while you draw an upper floor, a faint outline of the floor beneath shows through so walls, stairs, and columns line up. Floors can be reordered, nudged into alignment, and copied.
Stairs connect the levels. Choose straight, L-shape, U-shape, or spiral, set the direction as UP or DOWN, and the staircase cuts a real opening through the floor it reaches — including every floor in between when it climbs more than one level. Elevators serve the floors you pick, and you can cut a plain floor opening for a duct, a plumbing run, or a double-height void.
Every floor has its own ceiling height, so a soaring great room upstairs can sit over a lower basement. You can even add an upper floor by importing a picture of its plan and pinning two matching corners to line it up over the floor below. In 3D, the whole house stacks, and Walk mode climbs the stairs.

Good to know
- Copying a design brings every floor with it; copying a single floor leaves the original's notes and labels behind.
- Deleting a floor and adding a new one later is safe — floors keep their own contents.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add a basement?
Yes. Floors can be added below ground as well as above, and stairs can be set to run down into them.
Do the stairs actually connect the floors?
Yes. A staircase links to the floor it reaches and cuts a stairwell through it — and through every floor in between if it climbs more than one level — so the 3D view is correct.
Can floors have different ceiling heights?
Yes. Ceiling height is set per floor in Plan Settings, and walls and the 3D view follow it.
