Type an exact wall length, and join walls at their corners
Select a wall, tap its length and type the size you measured. A yellow pin shows the end that stays put, an arrow shows the end that moves, and a tap on the arrow swaps them. The same works for outer walls and for plans from the AI import.
A traced or AI-imported plan is usually close but not exact, and "close" is how a sofa ends up an inch too long for its wall. Once you have your tape measurements, put them into the plan one wall at a time: every wall takes a typed length, and you decide which end stays where it is.
The pictures use the Small 1-Bedroom Apartment template.
Step by step
- 1
Select the wall
Tap or click the wall. A small panel appears beside it with three things: - its length (tap it to type), - a link button: blue means Joined walls move too; tap it and the wall moves on its own, - a magnet: on, the wall's ends snap to walls and corners; tap it for Free placement of this wall only. An interior wall's length is its clear length, wall face to wall face. An outer wall's length is its outside length. That's the same number the plan shows along the wall.

Type the length and check the pin
Tap the length. Two boxes open (feet + inches, or metres + centimetres). While they're open, the plan marks the wall's ends: - the yellow pin is the end that stays put, - the blue arrow in a dashed yellow circle is the end that moves. Want the other end to stay? Tap the arrow and the pin and arrow swap. Type the length and press Enter or the ✓ (on a phone, the ✓ above the keyboard or tapping elsewhere applies it too); the ✗ cancels. Which end stays by default: the end that's joined to other walls. If both ends are joined, the left end stays (the top end for an up-and-down wall), as you see the plan. Walls joined to the one you change grow or shrink with it, and doors and windows keep their distance from the fixed end.
Yellow pin = stays put. Arrow = moves. Tap the arrow to swap. - 3
Outer walls work the same way
Select an outer wall and tap its length. Here the top wall is 24′ 6.5″ outside; the pin sits on the left corner and the arrow on the right, so typing 24′ moves the right-hand corner and the side walls follow. Tap the arrow to keep the right corner instead. You can also type in the Length field of the wall's settings bar at the bottom of the screen (where you also set height, thickness and load-bearing); it shows the same pin and arrow.
An outer wall: the length is its outside length; pin on the left, arrow on the right. - 4
Or set a room's size by tapping its measurement
When you know the room's inside size rather than a wall's length, tap the room's own measurement along the wall. The boxes open with that size, and the wall that will slide to make it is highlighted in yellow. Interior walls move before the outside of the house does. Measurements for rooms show when Layers → Split at wall intersections is on. More in See the inside size of every room.
Tap a room's measurement: the yellow wall slides to make that size. - 5
Make a wall end meet a corner, not the middle of a wall
Drag the end of an interior wall (the crosshair at its end) or pull a new wall out of the + › handle toward the corner you want. Watch the green mark at the end you're dragging: - a ring means it will join a corner or another wall's end, - a bar (a bold T when it's square) means it will join the side of a wall at that spot, - the new wall turns green when it's aimed square at a wall ahead. Corners and wall ends win over the side of a wall when you're near them, so bring the end close to the corner and let go when you see the ring. Zoom in for precise work: the pull toward nearby walls shrinks as you zoom in, so you can stop a few inches short of a wall. The round magnifier shows exactly where the walls meet. Need the end somewhere snapping won't let it go? Hold Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac) while you drag, or tap the wall's magnet so it shows Free (handy on a phone or tablet).
Pulling a new wall: live length, green when square, a T where it meets the wall ahead. - 6
Turn snapping off for one wall
Walls snap whatever the red magnet in the toolbar says; that one is for furniture. Each wall has its own magnet in its panel. Tap it and it shows Free: that wall's ends (and new walls you pull out of it) go exactly where you drop them. Tap again to snap. See Turn snapping on or off.
The wall's own magnet: tap for free placement of that wall.
Tips
Do the outside first, then the rooms
Type the outer walls' lengths from your measurements, then set each room's inside size by tapping its measurement. The interior walls slide into place.
Move a wall without its neighbours
Tap the link button (it changes to Wall moves on its own) before you drag or type. On a computer you can hold Alt (Option on a Mac) while dragging instead.
Lengths land on clean numbers
Dragging moves in steps that match your zoom: about a foot zoomed out on a phone, inches on a computer, down to a quarter inch zoomed right in. Typing is exact.

Common mistakes
Dragging when you have the number
If you measured it, type it. Dragging is for sizing by eye.
Typing the inside size into an outer wall
An outer wall's length is its outside length. For the room's inside size, tap the room's measurement along that wall instead.
Letting go on the side of the wall
If you see a bar or T instead of a ring, the end will join the side of the wall. Move closer to the corner (zoom in if needed) until the ring appears.
Frequently asked questions
How do I shorten an interior wall?
Select it, tap its length in the small panel beside it and type the shorter length, then press Enter. The yellow pin shows the end that stays put; tap the arrow at the other end to keep that end instead. You can also drag the crosshair at the wall's end.
How do I put real measurements into a plan from the AI import?
Open the design and tap each wall to type its exact length, starting with the outer walls. Then tap each room's measurement along its walls to set its inside size. The pin shows which end stays put.
Which end of the wall moves when I type a length?
The end that isn't joined to other walls. When both ends are joined, the left end stays (the top end for an up-and-down wall). While you type, a yellow pin marks the end that stays; tap the arrow on the other end to swap.
My wall end snaps to the middle of the other wall. How do I land on the corner?
Bring the end close to the corner: corners and wall ends win when you're near them, and the green mark turns into a ring. Zoom in if the corner is crowded. To place an end with no snapping, hold Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac) while dragging, or tap the wall's magnet so it reads Free.
Why is the length I typed different from the number I see on the plan?
It isn't any more: the panel, the box on the plan and the plan's measurement all show the same number (outside length for outer walls, wall face to wall face for interior walls). If a length can't be applied, for example because walls would cross, the reason shows next to the box.
What are the shortest and longest walls allowed?
Interior walls can be as short as 3 inches and outer walls 6 inches; any wall can be up to 500 feet long.
