Ceilings change how a room feels as much as furniture does. Tap Vaulted Ceiling in the Build panel, drag a rectangle over the area — it snaps to your walls — and the ceiling rises to a ridge in 3D.
Choose a cathedral, a single slope, or a pyramid that rises from all four walls to a flat square top or a point. Let the slope meet the wall or run right down to the floor for an attic bedroom, then add exposed beams, a skylight, or a soffit that follows the slope.
What you can do
Three ceiling shapes
Cathedral (two slopes to a ridge), single-slope, or pyramid — with a flat top you size, or a point.
Attic rooms
Bring a slope down to the wall or all the way to the floor; Fit to walls closes any gap.
Exposed beams
Barn- and loft-style timber beams that meet the ridge cleanly — hide them any time.
Skylights
Glazed openings in flat or vaulted ceilings, with daylight in 3D.
Soffits & bulkheads
Ceiling boxes over cabinets or ductwork that follow a vault instead of poking through it.
Per-floor heights
A soaring great room upstairs, a lower basement below — set in Plan Settings.
How it works
- 1
Add a vault
Tap Vaulted Ceiling in the Build panel and drag over the room; it snaps to your walls.
- 2
Pick the shape
Cathedral, single-slope, or pyramid; set the heights and where the slope ends.
- 3
Add details
Exposed beams, a skylight, or a soffit — each with its own settings.
- 4
Check it in 3D
Walk under it in 3D; interior walls follow the slope instead of poking through.
Frequently asked questions
Can I design an attic bedroom?
Yes. A vaulted ceiling's slope can meet the wall or come right down to the floor, and soffits under the slope give you the flat-topped attic ceiling many lofts have.
Do walls work under a sloped ceiling?
Yes. A wall with its own height follows the slope wherever the ceiling comes down lower, so partitions meet the vault cleanly.
Can each floor have a different ceiling height?
Yes — set it floor by floor in Plan Settings, and it carries through to the walls and the 3D view.
