The Outline Editor: one-off fixes to your plan's outline
Everyday wall edits happen on the plan. The Outline Editor (Plan Settings → Layout) is for the rare jobs that need the whole outline: dragging or deleting a corner, All 90°, Add Exterior Walls, Re-scale and Reposition this floor.
This page used to be about the Floor Plan Shape editor and its Edit Floor Plan Shape button. That button (and the phone's Edit Floor pill) is gone. Moving, resizing, splitting, removing and restyling walls now happens right on the plan: see Edit walls on the plan.
The editor itself is still there for a handful of one-off jobs, now called the Outline Editor. It works on your floor's outline as a draft and changes nothing until you tap Update Floor Plan. Use it to drag or delete a single corner, make every corner a right angle, add exterior walls of any shape, re-scale a plan that came out the wrong size, or line an upper floor up with the one below.

Open it from Plan Settings → Layout
On a computer, open Plan Settings in the Build panel on the left. On a phone, tap Plan Settings in the top row. Choose the Layout tab and tap Outline Editor (the ⓘ beside it explains what it's for). The editor opens over the plan with your floor's outline, its area and perimeter by the title, and its buttons in one slim bar along the bottom. On a phone it fills the screen. On a phone, Plan Settings opens as a panel at the top with the same four tabs. Your interior walls show as a guide but can't be changed here; edit them on the plan.

Drag a corner, or delete one
Drag any corner to reshape the outline. The two walls that meet there follow, and their lengths update as you drag. On a computer, hold Shift to snap to 90°. Tap a corner to see its angle (Corner 3: 90°, say). If it's off square, Make 90° fixes it. Delete removes the corner and joins its two walls into one. An outline needs at least three corners.

Square every corner with All 90°
A traced or hand-drawn outline often has corners at 89° or 91°. All 90° makes every corner of the outline a right angle in one tap; Undo puts it back. Angles shows or hides the angle at every corner, and Snap makes dragged walls land on whole lengths.

Add Exterior Walls of any shape
Tap Add Exterior Walls, then tap the corner to start from (Tap any existing corner to start drawing new walls from there). Pull the blue handle and release to draw each new wall, and release on a corner or wall to close the shape. The stretch of old outside wall that ends up inside the bigger plan becomes an interior wall. For a plain rectangle, Add Room on the plan is quicker: see Add a room.

Re-scale a plan that came out the wrong size
Imported or traced plan the wrong size? Tap Re-scale, drag the two crosshairs onto two points you know the real distance between, and type that distance in Real distance between the two points. The editor shows the result (New size: 104% of current, for example). In a design with several floors, choose This floor or All floors. Re-scale saves only the new size, so save any other outline changes first. See Re-scale a floor plan.

Line up an upper floor: Reposition this floor
On a floor with a floor below, the floor below shows as a gray guide and Reposition this floor appears. Tap it and drag the whole outline into line with the floor below; corners lock while you move it. Revert Move puts it back where it started. See Multi-floor designs.

Tap Update Floor Plan
Nothing changes in your design until you tap Update Floor Plan (bottom right). Cancel throws the draft away. Undo and Redo in the bottom bar work inside the editor too.
Tips
Try the plan first
Moving a wall, typing a length, splitting, removing a wall and turning it into a railing are all faster on the plan. Open the Outline Editor only for the jobs above.
Type lengths on the plan
In the Outline Editor you drag; to type an exact wall length, close it, tap the wall on the plan and type the number there.
See angles without opening it
Turn on Layers → Show corner angles to see every corner's angle right on the plan. Square corners show in green.
Common mistakes
Looking for Split Walls, Remove Walls or Edit Wall Style
Those tools left the editor for indoor floors. Tap the wall on the plan: Split sits beside an outer wall (scissors beside an interior wall), and Remove and Type: Wall | Railing are in the wall's settings panel.
Re-scaling after other outline changes
Re-scale keeps only the new size. If you dragged corners in the same session, tap Update Floor Plan first, then open the editor again to re-scale.
Frequently asked questions
Where did Edit Floor Plan Shape go?
The button was removed in October 2026, on the web and in the apps. Wall edits now happen on the plan: tap a wall to move it, type its length, Split it, Remove / Restore it or switch Wall | Railing. The editor lives on as the Outline Editor, under Plan Settings → Layout.
Does the Outline Editor still open anywhere else?
Yes. It opens in drawing mode (Draw Floor Plan Layout) when you choose Draw Your Own under Custom Floor Plan in a new design, and when you add a floor and choose to draw it. A yard has its own Yard Editor, opened with Edit Yard in the Floors menu. It keeps the full boundary toolset: Split Boundary, Add Boundary, Remove Boundary, Boundary Style and fence length, thickness and height.
Does reshaping the outline move my furniture?
No. Furniture stays where it is. Pieces that end up outside the new outline or inside a wall show up in Smart Flow Check so you can move them.
Can I drag a corner on the plan without opening this editor?
Not directly. On the plan you move walls: move the two walls that meet at the corner. Use the Outline Editor when you want to drag the corner itself, for an angled wall for example.
