Add a room — tap a wall, size it, done
In the Build panel choose Add Room, tap the wall to build against, size the room by its corners, and tap Done. The shared wall becomes an interior wall automatically.
Most plans grow sideways: a bedroom off the hall, a mudroom on the back, an office beyond the garage. Drawing each of those wall by wall is slow and error-prone at the corners. Add Room builds the whole room against a wall you already have, and joins it to the plan cleanly.
Add Room is in the main editor's Build panel (on a phone, Structural & Interior). Tap an outside wall to add onto your plan, or tap an interior wall (or pull the corners into the plan) to divide the space inside. Either way the new room is enclosed, named and measured as soon as you tap Done, and nothing you've already placed (doors, windows, fixtures) moves.

Choose Add Room
In the Build panel (Structural & Interior on a phone) tap Add Room, the first tile under Structural. The note at the top of the plan reads Tap a wall to place a room next to it: an outside wall to add onto your plan, or an interior wall to divide the space inside. Then drag its corners to size it.

Tap the wall it sits against
Tap the wall you want the new room next to. A small room appears attached to it, with a handle on each corner and the note Drag the corners to size the room. Pull them into the floor plan to divide the space inside, or drag the room's middle to slide it along the wall. Then tap Done.

Size it by dragging the corners
Drag the outer corners to set width and depth; the measurements update live as you drag, and the edges line up with walls already in the plan, so a 12 × 10 bedroom is exactly 12 × 10. Drag the room's middle to slide it along the wall. Rooms can be as small as 1 foot, for a closet.

Tap Done
The room joins the plan. The shared wall becomes an interior wall that runs between the two rooms and meets the surrounding walls exactly at the corners. The new space is enclosed, so it gets its own name, area and flooring straight away. Add a door between the rooms from the Build panel.

If the room can't go there
Add Room never moves or cuts through what's already on your plan. If a wall of the new room would cut through a door, window or fixture, it's shown in red and the note says A wall of this room would cut through a door, window or fixture (shown in red). Move or resize the room so it clears them or covers them completely. Slide the room along the wall or resize it until the red is gone. A room partly over the plan, or one that would leave a gap, gets a note that says so too. Done works again once the room fits.

Tips
Build from the room you have
Add the hall first, then rooms off it; each new room lines up with the walls that already exist.
Divide a big space from inside
To split an open area into two rooms, tap an interior wall, or pull the new room's corners into the plan. The room is built with interior walls only where there aren't walls already. To divide just one wall, see Split, slide and resize walls.
Common mistakes
Forgetting the door
Two enclosed rooms need an opening between them. Add a door on the shared wall from the Build panel.
Looking for Add Room in Edit Floor Plan Shape
That editor's button is gone. Add Room is only in the Build panel on the plan. For an extension that isn't a rectangle, use the Exterior Wall tile next to it and draw the walls on the plan (see Add exterior walls right on your plan).
Frequently asked questions
Does the new room share a wall with the old one?
Yes. After Done, the wall between them becomes a single interior wall that meets the surrounding walls exactly at the corners.
Can I set the room's exact size?
Drag the corners with live measurements, then fine-tune: select any of its walls and type the exact length (see Set an exact wall length).
Will adding a room move my doors or windows?
No. Everything already on the plan stays exactly where it was. If a wall of the new room would cut through a door, window or fixture, it's shown in red until you move or resize the room. A door the new room covers completely becomes a door between the two rooms.
How do I remove a room, or merge two rooms into one?
To merge two rooms, select the interior wall between them and delete it: the two spaces become one room and the automatic name updates; furniture stays where it is. To take away a room you added on the outside, Undo straight away, or select its outer wall, turn its link on (Joined walls move too) and drag it back in line with the rest of the plan, or open Plan Settings → Layout → Outline Editor, delete its outer corners and tap Update Floor Plan.
