Your first few minutes in RoomSketch3D
The first time you open RoomSketch3D it walks you through what it can do and asks a few quick questions to tailor your starting point — then drops you into your first design. Here's what each step is and how to move through it fast.
When you open RoomSketch3D for the first time, it doesn't drop you onto a blank canvas cold. A short intro tour shows what the app can do, and a few quick questions tailor where you begin — so your first design starts closer to what you actually want to build.
None of it is a commitment. You can move through it in under a minute, jump into the demo to poke around first, or head straight to your first design.
What you'll need
- •A RoomSketch3D account (or just the demo)
- •Two minutes
Step by step
- 1
The intro tour
A set of simple slides — Welcome to RoomSketch3D · Design in 2D & 3D — walks through the things you'll use most: planning a room before you buy or move, drawing a single room up to a multi-story home, scanning a room by walking it with your camera, the 600+ furniture and fixtures library, tracing a photo (or letting AI draft the plan), starting from a template, previewing in 3D, and Flow Check catching layout problems early. Tap Next to move forward, Back to revisit a slide.
- 2
A few quick questions
Next come a handful of quick questions — Question 1 of 4, and so on — about what you're designing. Tap the options that fit; if none do, choose the something else option and type it in the "Tell us what you're designing…" box. Each question advances with Continue, so nothing jumps ahead of you.
- 3
See your tailored starting point
Tap See my options and RoomSketch3D spends a moment Building your plan… — matching RoomSketch3D to what you told us, then shows Your plan: the ways to start that best fit your answers. Pick one and you're in the editor.

Skip ahead if you'd rather explore
Not ready to answer questions? Try Demo opens a working design you can play with immediately, and See Pricing is always one tap away. You can start a real design at any point — the onboarding is a head start, never a gate.
Tips
The questions only tailor the start
Your answers pick a sensible starting point — a room type, a way to begin — nothing about them is locked in. You can draw any room, add any floor, and change direction entirely once you're in the editor.
Watch the intro on any device
The intro tour and its short clips play on phone, tablet, and desktop, and they're translated — the whole first-run experience follows the language you pick.
Come back to it later
Once you're designing, the in-app guided tour walks you through the editor itself — a step-by-step tour of the real tools. See guided tour of the editor.
Common mistakes
Thinking you have to finish it before you can design
You don't. Every screen has a way forward — Try Demo, See my options, or just starting a design. If you'd rather skip straight to a blank room, you can.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to answer the questions to use RoomSketch3D?
No. The questions tailor your starting point, but you can pick Try Demo to jump into a working design, or start any design you like. Nothing you answer is permanent — it just gives you a head start.
Can I see the app before I buy?
Yes. Try Demo opens a working design you can explore hands-on, and See Pricing shows the one-time price at any time. RoomSketch3D is a one-time purchase — see whats included how to buy.
What are the quick questions for?
They ask what you're designing so RoomSketch3D can suggest the best way to start — a room type, a template, an AR scan, or a trace — instead of leaving you on a blank canvas. You choose from the suggestions on the Your plan screen.
How do I get a step-by-step tour of the editor itself?
The first-run flow introduces the app; the in-editor guided tour walks you through the actual tools once you're designing. See guided tour of the editor.
