Select, multi-select, copy, paste, and delete
Drag a box or tap to add items, use the on-canvas Copy/Delete bar, paste into clear space, and use the chooser when items are stacked.
Selecting sounds trivial until a plan has forty pieces in it. RoomSketch3D has one set of rules for all of them: tap a thing to select it, use Select multiple to gather several, and when two things share a spot, a chooser lets you pick by name.
Multi-select is not limited to furniture. Interior walls, pillars, bulkheads, staircases, elevators, vaulted-ceiling areas, and skylights can be gathered into the same selection and moved, copied, or deleted together — exterior walls are the only thing that stays put.

Select one thing
Tap any piece — furniture, a door, a window, an interior wall, a staircase. Its inspector opens along the bottom (size, rotation, name, options) and a small bar appears right beside the piece with Duplicate and a red Delete, so you don't have to hunt for either.

Select multiple
Tap the toolbar's Select multiple button (its tooltip reads drag a box, or click items). Now drag a box across the plan — start on empty canvas — or tap items one by one to add or remove them. A bar shows N selected — drag to move; drag any selected piece and the whole group moves together.

Structure comes too
If the box crosses an interior wall, a pillar, or a staircase, it joins the selection — you'll see it counted in the bar. Move the mix as one, or delete a whole zone in a single step. Exterior walls are never included; reshape those in the shape editor.

Copy, paste, delete
With a selection active, tap Copy selected items (or Ctrl/Cmd+C), then paste with Ctrl/Cmd+V or the Paste items button. Copies land in clear space — never on a wall, a column, or on top of the originals — and arrive selected so you can drag them straight into place. Delete selected items removes the whole group; Undo brings it back.

Pick the right one when items overlap
Tap where two or more things sit on top of each other — a rug under a coffee table, a window behind a fireplace, a pillar over a staircase, two interior walls meeting at a T — and a Select item chooser lists each one by name. Pick the one you meant. The same chooser appears for wall-mounted pieces like a Murphy bed or an awning over a window.

Back to single selection
Press Escape or tap Exit select mode. Escape also closes the inspector for any selected structure (soffit, vault, elevator, bay window, skylight, floor opening) the same way it does for furniture.
Tips
Start the box on empty floor
Dragging from on top of a piece moves that piece instead. Begin the marquee just outside the plan or in an empty corner.
Copy a whole zone
Box-select a reading corner — chair, lamp, rug, side table — copy it, and paste it into the guest room. Then nudge with the arrow keys.
Arrow keys move only the selection
Handy when a big piece (a bed) makes dragging grab the wrong thing: select, then nudge with the arrows.
Common mistakes
Expecting exterior walls in the box
They're deliberately excluded. Use Edit Floor Plan Shape to move or split exterior walls.
Pasting and losing the copies
They land in clear space, which may be off to one side of a crowded room. They arrive selected — look for the N selected bar and drag.

Can I select interior walls together with furniture?
Yes. Box-select or tap to add interior walls, pillars, bulkheads, stairs, elevators, vaulted ceilings, and skylights along with furniture, then move, copy/paste, or delete them together. Exterior walls stay put.
Where do pasted items go?

How do I select a window that's behind a fireplace?
