Select, multi-select, copy, paste, and delete

Step by step

   Select one thing

   Tap any piece — furniture, a door, a window, an interior wall, a staircase. Its inspector opens along the bottom (size, rotation, name, options) and a small bar appears right beside the piece with Duplicate and a red Delete, so you don't have to hunt for either.

   Select multiple

   Tap the toolbar's Select multiple button (its tooltip reads drag a box, or click items). Now drag a box across the plan — start on empty canvas — or tap items one by one to add or remove them. A bar shows N selected — drag to move; drag any selected piece and the whole group moves together.

   Structure comes too

   If the box crosses an interior wall, a pillar, or a staircase, it joins the selection — you'll see it counted in the bar. Move the mix as one, or delete a whole zone in a single step. Outside walls are never moved or deleted with the group; tap an outer wall on its own to move it, type its length, or split it (see Edit walls on the plan). The one exception is copying: an outside wall whose both ends are inside the box joins the selection so a projecting room can be copied (see below).

   Copy, paste, delete

   With a selection active, tap Copy selected items (or Ctrl/Cmd+C), then paste with Ctrl/Cmd+V or the Paste items button. Copies land in clear space — never on a wall, a column, or on top of the originals — and arrive selected so you can drag them straight into place. Delete selected items removes the whole group; Undo brings it back.

   Find your copies: the Clipboard pill

   There is no clipboard window to open. As soon as you copy, a Clipboard pill appears on the plan with the count, e.g. Clipboard (6): bottom-right next to the 3D preview pill and the compass on a computer, top-right on a phone or tablet. Tap it for Paste N items (the copies land in the middle of your view, selected and ready to drag) or Clear clipboard. The pill disappears when nothing is copied, and while the full 3D view is open.

   Paste into another design

   What you copy stays on the clipboard when you leave the editor. Copy in one design, go back to Home, open the other design, and tap the Clipboard pill → Paste. Furniture, interior walls, stairs, pillars and the rest all make the trip, keeping their positions relative to each other. The clipboard is kept on the device you copied on, so paste on the same phone, tablet or computer (and browser). It holds one copy at a time: copying something new replaces it.

   Copy a room that sticks out: bay, porch, wing

   To bring a whole projecting room into another design, box it so both ends of each of its outside walls are inside the box, tap Copy (the note reads e.g. Room copied: 3 walls and 3 items), open the other design and tap Clipboard → Paste room. The room floats in as one piece; drag it onto an outside wall and it snaps on, turned to stand outside the plan. Slide it, or type the distance from either end of the wall, then tap Done.    Arrange: line up or flip the group

   With two or more pieces of furniture selected, the blue bar shows Arrange. Tap it for four choices: Line up in a row, Line up in a column, Flip group left to right and Flip group top to bottom. (These used to be two small icons with no labels on the bar.) Arrange works on the furniture in the selection; interior walls and other structure in the same selection stay where they are.

   Flip the group left to right

   Tap Arrange → Flip group left to right. The group mirrors in place, on the same patch of floor: chairs on the left of a table end up on its right, a sideboard on the left wall moves to the right wall, and every piece is turned so it still faces the right way (the chairs still face the table). The spacing between pieces doesn't change, and pieces with a hand, like an L-shaped sectional, mirror too. Nothing piles up.

    Or top to bottom

    Flip group top to bottom does the same up and down: the armchair at the top end of the table moves to the bottom end, still facing the table, and whatever was near the bottom of the group moves to the top. Left and right mean left and right as you see the plan: if you've turned the plan with Plan Settings → Rotation, the flip follows the screen, not the compass.

    Line up in a row or a column

    Line up in a row puts the selected pieces on one straight line across the plan; Line up in a column puts them on one line up and down. If they all face the same way, they line up by their backs, so pieces of different depths stay flush against the same wall. Pieces that would land on top of each other are laid out side by side, keeping the gaps they had. A piece hung on the wall above another (a wall cabinet over a base cabinet) centres over it instead of being pushed aside.

    Undo a flip or line-up

    One Undo (toolbar arrow or Ctrl/Cmd+Z) puts the whole group back where it was, and the pieces stay selected, so you can go straight to another Arrange choice. (Only a piece the undo removes, say one you had just added, drops out of the selection.)

    Pick the right one when items overlap

    Tap where two or more things sit on top of each other — a rug under a coffee table, a window behind a fireplace, a pillar over a staircase, two interior walls meeting at a T — and a Select item chooser lists each one by name. Pick the one you meant. The same chooser appears for wall-mounted pieces like a Murphy bed or an awning over a window.

    Back to single selection

    Press Escape or tap Exit select mode. Escape also closes the inspector for any selected structure (soffit, vault, elevator, bay window, skylight, floor opening) the same way it does for furniture.
