Every toolbar button, explained
A quick reference to every button across the top of the editor — the top bar and the toolbar above the canvas, left to right.
The toolbar across the top of the editor holds every action you'll use while designing. Here's what each button does — the top bar first, then the toolbar above the canvas, left to right.

The toolbar at a glance
Two rows sit at the top of the editor: the top bar (Home, your design name, sharing, support, updates and your account) and the toolbar above the canvas (view and editing controls). Every button below is left-to-right in these rows.

Home (house icon)
Top-left, next to the logo (the logo does the same). Takes you to Home: start a new design, reopen your last one with Continue, open any of your designs, and find the Recycle Bin. It replaced the old Dashboard and + buttons. See start, switch, rename and delete designs.

Design name and ⋮
The name in the center of the top bar. Click it to rename the design. The ⋮ next to it has Edit design name, Duplicate and Delete design (deleted designs go to the Recycle Bin for 30 days).

Support
Opens a menu: Help & Tutorials (these guides), Guided tour (the interactive walkthrough of the editor), Getting-started checklist, then Have a question? (ask how to do something), Report a bug, Request a feature and Give feedback.

Updates (bell)
The bell opens Updates: new features, tips and help notes. A number on the bell shows how many you haven't read.

Account
Your avatar (far right) opens the account menu: Settings (language, measurements, the design editor, floor plan defaults, and your account), About RoomSketch3D, and Sign out. Your profile is part of Settings now.

Collapse / expand panels
The chevrons at the inner edge of the Floors panel (left) and Furniture & Décor panel (right) hide them for a bigger canvas. Open full catalog expands the furniture panel to the full library.

Smart Flow Check
The first item in the toolbar row (on a phone it sits in the top row, next to the floor picker). It reads Flow check OK when your layout is clear, or shows a number when it finds issues: tight walkways, blocked door swings, furniture too close. Click it to see each one.

Layers
The stacked-sheets button right after Flow check (on a phone, the first icon in the toolbar row). Layers comes first because it's a setting rather than a tool: it opens the Layers menu, where you show or hide what's drawn on the plan. That's the overall outside wall lengths (Show exterior dimensions) and the room-by-room measurements (Show interior dimensions, with Inside the rooms under it), room labels with their size and area, furniture labels and dimensions, Show outlets, switches & symbols, alignment guides, vaulted ceilings, flooring, sticky notes, kept tape measurements and Show corner angles. Vaulted ceilings, flooring, sticky notes, tape measurements and outlets start off on a new device and switch on by themselves when you add one. See the Layers panel.

Snapping (magnet)
The red magnet, right after Layers, switches furniture snapping on or off. Solid red means on: pieces move in small even steps, slide flush against walls and line up with the pieces around them. Pale means off: pieces stay exactly where you drop them. It starts on for computers and off on phones, and each device remembers your choice. Walls aren't affected: they always join other walls and corners. To place one wall's end freely, use the magnet on that wall's own panel, or hold Ctrl (⌘ on a Mac) while dragging. Select multiple
Drag a box (or click items) to select several pieces at once, then move, copy or delete them together. With two or more pieces of furniture selected, Arrange on the blue bar lines them up in a row or a column, or flips the whole group left to right or top to bottom. Tape measure
Measure any distance (or an area) on the plan, point to point, and keep the measurement if you want it to stay. See the tape measure.

Auto-furnish
The wand furnishes a room for you: it suggests complete furniture layouts for a room, which you can keep and then adjust. See Auto-furnish.

Sticky notes
Pin a note anywhere on the plan: tap the note button, tap the spot, and type. Notes can print as numbered pins with their text on a second page.

Undo
Undo steps backward through your edits: Ctrl+Z (⌘+Z on a Mac). The arrow is grey when there's nothing to undo.

Redo
Redo steps forward again after an undo: Ctrl+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y (⇧⌘Z or ⌘Y on a Mac).

Rotate and flip the plan: now in Plan Settings
Rotate Plan, Reset and Flip Plan used to sit here in the toolbar. They moved to Plan Settings → Rotation (the panel at the top of the left panel; the Plan Settings button in the top row on a phone). ↺ ↻ turn the view 15° at a time without changing your design (exports follow the view), Reset turns it back, and the two flip buttons mirror the whole plan left to right or top to bottom, which does change the design (Undo reverses it). Step by step: rotate or flip the whole floor plan.

Fit
Zooms and centers so the whole floor plan fits the screen.

Fullscreen
Hides the browser's own bars for a bigger workspace. Press it again (or Esc) to exit.

View in 3D and Elevation views
The purple cube opens the 3D view, where you can orbit, walk through and create photorealistic AI renders. The building icon next to it opens Elevation views: each wall of the house seen straight on. While you work in 2D, a small live 3D preview can stay open in the corner.

Save status (cloud)
The cloud at the right end shows your save state: a small dot while a change is waiting, a blue spinner while saving, a green cloud just after a save and a grey cloud when all changes are saved. A red or amber cloud with a slash means a save failed or you're offline; it retries and syncs when you're back online. There's no Save button to remember.

Zoom slider
At the bottom-left of the plan: drag the slider to zoom (the center is 100%), or use − and +. Click the percentage to go back to 100%. Your mouse wheel and trackpad pinch zoom too.

Tips
Exports have their own switches
The Export / Print dialog has its own Labels, Exterior dimensions, Interior dimensions, Room tints and Black & white options, so you can keep a busy working view on screen and still print a clean drawing.
Item panel covering your furniture?
On a computer or tablet, drag the panel that opens when you select a piece by its top row (the one with Duplicate and Delete) to anywhere over the plan. Reset puts it back at the bottom. See Place and arrange furniture.
Frequently asked questions
Where did Rotate Plan and Flip Plan go?
They moved out of the toolbar into Plan Settings → Rotation. Rotating only turns the view on screen (your walls and dimensions stay exactly as drawn, and Reset turns it back); flipping mirrors the design (Undo reverses it).
Do I need to save?
No. Saving is automatic — the cloud icon turns green when your latest change is saved.
I turned the wall dimensions off. Where do I see a piece's size?
Show exterior dimensions and Show interior dimensions in Layers only cover wall measurements. A piece's width and depth are in its inspector when you select it, and Layers → Show furniture dimensions writes the size on every piece.
How do I zoom without the plan drifting?
Use the zoom slider at the bottom-left of the plan: drag it to zoom smoothly, with the center at 100%. The mouse wheel and trackpad pinch also zoom, and clicking the percentage returns to 100%.
How do I undo or cancel a change?
Undo and Redo are the two curved arrows in the toolbar; on a keyboard, Ctrl+Z (⌘+Z on a Mac) undoes and Ctrl+Y (⌘+Y) redoes. To cancel something you're in the middle of — a drag, a wall you're drawing, a dialog — press Escape and the plan returns to how it was. While you draw outside walls, the first Escape drops the walls you haven't joined back to the plan yet and a second Escape leaves the tool. History is kept for as long as the design is open, so you can step back through many changes; it clears when you close the design.
